organization tips for Sarasota homeowners

organization tips for Sarasota homeownersMany of the goals and resolutions homeowners around the Suncoast set at the New Year start falling by the wayside about a month in. Once people start settling into their routines after the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over, it can be hard to stick to the plans they made when they were full of end-of-the-year motivation. However, not all resolutions have to be big and lofty. It’s great to set more reasonable day-to-day goals for yourself. Sometimes the simplest ones end up making the biggest differences. In this post, More Space Place serving Sarasota, Bradenton, and Port Charlotte shares five simple ways to be more organized this year.

1. Make Lists

Chances are you already make occasional lists of things like what groceries you need at the store. Take that habit and extend it into other areas of your life. You’ll likely find making lists can come in handy for a lot of things, such as chores, errands, and to-do lists at work. Whether you make the lists on your phone or prefer the pen and paper method, keeping lists of things you need to do can help keep you more organized overall.

2. Keep High-Traffic Areas Clean

The most frequently used areas of the home, like the kitchen and the living room, are also the ones most prone to clutter and messes. Keeping these spaces picked up and tidy will help keep your home more organized in general, and it will prevent clutter from building up to a point where it becomes overwhelming.

3. Clean As You Go

Similar to the previous point, cleaning as you go is a great way to stay on top of messes. This applies to cooking, laundry, and other tasks that leave things in their wake. When making a meal, put ingredients away as you use them and wash dishes once you don’t need them anymore. This will leave less to clean at the end of the meal. When you do laundry, put your clean clothes away as soon as you fold them. This will prevent clothing clutter from accumulating and creating more of a mess.

4. Sync Your Calendars

Keeping track of your own appointments, outings, and events can be hard enough. Add your spouse’s and/or your kids’ schedules to the mix and you’re likely to lose track of things. Syncing your calendar with everyone in your family or household will help keep track of all the different schedules, which will ultimately help streamline the planning of your own calendar.

5. Plan Your Meals

Blocking out Sunday afternoon to plan and prep your meals for the upcoming week can save you a lot of time during the busy workweek. Divide portions into individual containers that you can grab in the morning before you leave the house. Having your meals planned for the week will help keep you more organized, as well as save time for doing other things.
